If you would like to have an installation at One Billion Rising in Second Life, please read the following information – and then contact Saffia Widdershins inworld:
We will have 18 slots, each 50 x 50, with a land impact of 500. You can see the layout of the four regions in the map here.
We also hope to have a 2D gallery (for images) and a 3D gallery (for sculptures). You can choose to submit to these instead if you prefer this to a larger installation.
You can work individually or with collaborators.
There will be a General rating, allowing avatars of all ages to attend. We ask you to respect this level. From previous years, we know that there can be extremely powerful installations created within this limit.
We would welcome exhibits that celebrate the work of either of the Nobel laureates Denis Mukwege and Nadia Murad (and if you would like to create such a work, please let us know).
The event takes place on Thursday 14th February and lasts from midnight SLT till midnight SLT – a full twenty-four hours.
You should have access to the regions on 11th February for set up. Press Day will be on Wednesday 13th. The regions will remain open on Friday 15th to allow visitors to explore the art installations more fully. Takedown is on Saturday 16th.
If people need an area on which to create their installation before the event, please contact Saffia Widdershins.
While you can set your own windlight within the installation, the main windlight on the four regions will be standard Second Life day and night. Most people will initially see the artworks from the paths, in this light.
