More about some of the writers:
Jolie Carter (judytoo)
In Second Life, I am Margo Hollak and alt, Jolie Carter (judytoo), and in real life, I am P. de Haan. I earned a BFA at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY and a master’s degree in Art Therapy at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. I have worked as an art teacher, an art gallery director and an art therapist. The pieces that I brought to Second Life represent a variety of media and styles.
Margo’s artwork can be seen in her Warehouse Gallery, right across the street from the Virtual Chelsea Hotel.
My artwork is available in real life through Fine Arts America under my RL name, Peggy DeHaan.

As JOLIE CARTER, I have become active in the poetry community in Second Life, reading and writing poetry and helping my partner, Sabreman Carter, host eight open mic poetry events each week.
One of my favorite quotes is from Kurt Vonnegut:
“Go into the arts. I’m not kidding. The arts are not a way to make a living. They are a very human way of making life more bearable. Practicing an art, no matter how well or badly, is a way to make your soul grow, for heaven’s sake. Sing in the shower. Dance to the radio. Tell stories. Write a poem to a friend, even a lousy poem. Do it as well as you possibly can. You will get an enormous reward. You will have created something.”
Lori Ann Reese
Lori Ann Reese (Skylar Smythe in Second Life) is from Toronto, Ontario Canada, and wrote her first poem at the age of 7. Lori is a commercial writer and marketing professional, and the author of the poetry blog “The Guerilla Poetess” which receives more than 15,000 visits per month worldwide.
Romie Vellais a public relations professional in RL who works for a general practice agency. She began writing poetry about 11 years ago in SL and has since studied in RL at the University of Iowa’s Summer Writing Festival and the Palm Beach Poetry Festival. Her poems have been published in some festival and university literary magazines and anthologies.
Shyla the Super Gecko
Shyla the Super Gecko is a former storm chaser, outdoor adventurer, sketch comedy writer and comedian. She is a prolific writer, focusing mostly on poetry and sketch. She lives with chronic pain and illnesses. Her preference is to focus on what she can do, to stay involved and be, as best she can, part of the solution. Shyla does not care for licorice jelly beans, but she does like licorice. She is not opposed to oxymorons.
In Second Life, Sunnie Beaumont has been holding the Short Poetry Workshops every Tuesday at 7:00 PM SLT for 11 years. Each week during the workshop we present a short poetry form, or a genre, or we have group poems. Each participant writes their poems in that form or genre. You can visit the Short Poetry library in Second Life at Short Poetry Workshop Library East Cookie (185, 121, 23). The volumes of books on the Library shelves represent all the workshops and poems written these last 11 years. By clicking on the books, you can receive the notecards on how to write the poetry form, plus all the poems written that evening.
In RL, Mary-Jane Grandinetti is the editor of two digital poetry journals – The Fib Review, which is a journal of Fibonacci poetry, and Shot Glass Journal, a journal of short poetry. You can visit the issues at http://www.musepiepress.com and click on the Journals button or the icons of each journal.
